Ms Barbara Fei

Ms Barbara Fei

A native of Jiangsu and brought up in Shanghai, Barbara Fei began her music studies as a piano student under Professor Ding Shan-de and later with Professor Yih Kai-chee at the National Music Conservatory in Nanjing. In 1949, she came to Hong Kong and started vocal lessons with Professor Chao Mei-pa. She also spearheaded “The National Symphony Mount Taishan” (2010) and  “Symphonic  concert” (2011). At the 15th Anniversary of HKSAR In 2012, she once again organized 400 choral members to sing at “International  of Military Tattoo”.

Throughout her artistic career, Ms Fei had served on many positions, including, in random order, Chairman of the music committee of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council; Music Director and Conductor of the Allegro Singers; Chairman  of the Hong Kong Association of Choral Societies; Honorary Research Fellow of the Centre of Asian Studies, University of Hong Kong; Chairman of the Hong Kong Ethnomusicology Society; Music Director and Conductor of the Hong Kong Chinese Oratorio Society; Senior Advisor of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, to name a few.
