Ronald began his interests in choral music under the teaching of Mr. Eddy Chi-hong Cheung. Under the guidance of Ms. Agnes Hwong and Mr. Lesley Chan, he has become an active member in choirs as singer, accompanist and conductor.
In 2011, he led the Wah Yan College, Kowloon Boys’ Choir and won the Championship of Youth Choir (TB voices) category and the Grand Prize of “Choir of the World”. Ronald was also awarded the Best Conductor in the 3rd Hong Kong International Youth and Children’s Choir Festival. In 2015, Ronald led The Greeners’ Sound attaining a Gold Medal and two Gold Awards in the 8th World Choir Games and World Youth and Children’s Choir Festival 2015 respectively, together with the 1st runner-up in the open class competition of 68th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in 2016. He was presented the Conducting Award (Choral/Instrumental) from Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) in the same year.
Majoring in music education at the EdUHK, Ronald is currently a music teacher and choir conductor of local secondary schools. He is also the resident conductor of the Allegro Singers and the conductor of the Parsons Choir. Apart from conducting choirs, Ronald has actively engaged in different kinds of choral performance and workshops to promote the beauty of choral music to the public.

2011年，楊氏帶領九龍華仁書院男聲合唱團參與第三屆香港國際青少年合唱節。合唱團在合唱節奪得青少年合唱團（男高低音）組別冠軍及世界合唱團大獎殊榮，楊氏更獲頒最佳指揮大獎。2013年獲香港教育大學頒發《社區學校合唱教學伙伴計劃》合唱教學獎計劃獎學金，並獲派至參與計劃之學校協助帶領合唱團訓練。楊氏帶領本地青少年合唱團 「綠韻」(The Greeners’ Sound) 參與第八屆世界合唱比賽及世界青少年合唱節2015，合共奪得三項金獎。2016年，楊氏亦帶領綠韻於第68屆香港學校音樂節公開組比賽中奪得亞軍，同年獲香港教育大學頒發優秀合唱及器樂指揮獎。
